Junior Cross Contry

It was junior cross country and I was one of the helpers. First we went outside to our sport teacher. He told us to get in partners, so I partnered up with another Olivia in my class.  Next we found a spot to cheer people on. One person stayed at that spot and told people they were doing so well even if they were struggling. At the same place you could still cheer your friends on. Remember that was only me. Olivia (my buddy) ran around with the juniors helping them if they tripped over or something like that. Then once Olivia had done a lap and was where I was, we swapped over. Then I did the running and she did the cheering. After all the races, we went back to the field (the finish line) and it was prize giving. Everyone did so well. After that we went back to class. It was lots of fun!!!           WELL DONE!!!!!!!!!!

Seeing through things

What I learnt...

In my science I have learnt

What opaque means-it means that no light can go through it and it makes a shadow.
What Translucent means- some light can go through.
What transparent means- all light can go through
Light bounces off shiny surfaces like mirrors.
Some bright things reflect back at you.
Light travels faster then anything.
Light travels in a straight line.
Shadows are from the opposite side of the sun.

Winter field day

On Tuesday the 18th of August, Meadowbank Primary School was representing in soccer, hockey, rugby and netball at winter field day. This was a very successful day for all of them, but not all of them went, just the ones who got chosen.

Charlotte from room 32 participated in the Mistics, the Meadowbank netball A team. They versed New Market school, Remuera Primary, Southern Cross and Victoria Avenue twice. This was at the big Windmill Courts. Charlotte was a goal shoot and she shot a lot of goals.

Charlottes first game was very close but they lost with the score 4-3(four, three) versing Victoria Avenue primary school. Their second game- versing Victoria Avenue again was very successful with the score 3-0 (three, nil). They were doing soooo well.

The Mistics third game was awesome, they bet New Market Primary school with the score three, two. Their next game they won as well but no one could remember their score versing Southern Cross. But sadly their last game they lost 10-0 (ten, nil) against Remuera Primary School. As you can see the Mistics did really well and won 3 out of 5. Charlotte said-It was a really fun but wet day.”

My Speech-Why we should SAVE THE ORANGUTANS

Did you know that in the last 20 years 3.5million hectares of Indonesian and Malaysian forests have been destroyed to make way for palm oil? If this keeps happening our orangutans will start to disappear. We need to stop using palm oil. So listen and you will find out what orangutans are and what they do, about palm oil and what to do to help save the orangutans.

Firstly I am going to tell you what orangutans are and what they do. Orangutans are big apes that are believed to be 7 times stronger than humans. Orangutan means Man Of The Forest, they have reddish brown hair unlike monkeys and gorillas. Orangutans sleep for 12 hours a day and every night they build their nest up high in the trees. They eat things like sap, fungus, bamboo and sometimes hunt small mammals. More than half of the baby orangutans don't make it to adults so please help save the orangutans!!

The biggest threat of orangutans is palm oil. Now I am going to talk to you about palm oil. Have you ever checked the ingredients in the food that you are buying? Now you have to because more than half the packaged food in the supermarket contains palm oil. Palm oil uses different names so look out for some of these: Vegetable oil, Cetearyl alcohol and kernal plam oil.  Palm oil is the most widely used oil on Earth, not only that but more than 1500 companies and organisations use Palm oil. Palm oil comes from the tree called African oil palm tree. Today, in the rainforests 300 soccer fields disappear an hour in order to make palm oil. So maybe you were wondering what to do to help.

Now, what can we do to help save the orangutans? You can plant a Tree in the forest or speak to a company that uses Palm oil like kit Kat and Hersheys. These will help a lot but there is also more like donating to the Orangutan outreach. You can even adopt one by searching up adopt orangutan NZ on the internet !! Please check your ingredients of the food that you are buying at the supermarket and don’t buy anything that contains palm oil.

I hope I have convinced you not to use products that contain palm oil. We have no right to kill the orangutans and if we do the future generations will not get to meet them.

The Bridge

Once upon a time in a land called Bridge there was a bridge made of logs that was tied to a pole. One day a big moose came on and had a big yawn not seeing the bear coming along. The bear came a long closing his eyes so he couldn't see the moose. Suddenly they crashed into each other, they both looked at each other.  They were both really angry. "get out of my way" said the bear and growled loudly. "No get out of my way" said the moose. They got really angry and finally the bear tried to push the bear off the bridge. But then the moose tried to push off the bear. Then a racoon tried to get past them but the bear picked him up by the head and threw him back and after that a rabbit tried to get past them but the moose picked it up from the ears and threw him back. The bear and the moose kept fighting. Suddenly the bridge got loose because the racoon and the rabbit untied one end. "aaaaggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" the bear and the moose screamed and they jumped up and hugged each other and fell together. Then the racoon and the rabbit were able to walk across the other side that was not untied. They both met each other in the middle, they starred at each other. Then the racoon bent down knowing that the rabbit could jump over. The rabbit jumped over, they waved good bye and lived happily ever after.

Cyber bullying story

This dog is not very interested in anything except- Can you guess?? Look at the title, what is she interested in?? That's right- Noodles!!!!!!!! She loves noodles. Oh wait, wrong story she is very interested in- any more guesses?? No...   Yes,  I think it is Ice-cream. Wait.... Wait... I remember, Oh how close I was. It is cyber bullying.  So why?? Why is he interested in cyber bullying and not any thing else, well I will tell you a story of what happened to her owner, Mya a 12 year old girl.

Once upon a time, on a peaceful earth, on a peaceful land, in a peaceful town in a peaceful house(or manssion sort) and in a peaceful room, there lived a girl called Mya. Right at that moment Mya was getting her own phone, email and 2 dogs because it was her B-day. Everything went on very well, until one day one of her dogs died. Mya missed her so much she started to cry at school.  Everyone thought it was funny and started laughing and videoing her. By the end of the day these videos were posted on acounts and shared to other people. Than Mya got very bad comments every 1 minute. These were really bad comments like, cry baby haha and lots of nasty comments. This is where the police were involved. They came and had a talk to Mya and the school. Mya's other dog Emma is that one who is very interested in noodles, I mean, ice cream, opps-cyber bullying.

Make sure you don't cyber bully. Bye for now!!
